regional programmes

Regional and community commemoration programmes are being developed by local councils, charitable trusts, community organisations and groups around the country.

Events and legacy projects being planned will have positive social, cultural, ecological and economic impacts and will include ecological restoration, cultural and education initiatives and regional tourism development.

Work on the commemoration began in some regions as early as 2013. This work has been led by trusts in the four parts of Aotearoa New Zealand where Māori and Europeans met during the Endeavour’s 1769 voyage.
